L-3 PS History
In the early sixties innovative, entrepreneurial-minded scientists formed two companies: Physics International in northern California and Maxwell in southern California with the intent to develop hi-tech commercial products and to perform contract R&D for the government and private industry. Combining expertise in high voltage devices, shock physics and computational analysis these two companies formed the nucleus of what is today's L-3 Pulse Sciences (L-3 PS) … that to this day is regarded as a pioneer within the U.S. scientific and defense communities.

L-3 PS’s AURORA towers over mere mortals
Shortly after start-up, these two companies recognized and addressed the government’s need for a powerful flash x-ray pulser to perform transient radiation effects testing on electronics systems. This single project spawned the diverse set of products and services that we offer today.
The PulseRad1590, one of the family of pulsed power machines descending from the original FXR device.
